Aussie boo (Austin) has got something to tell ya..
hay everyone, Austin here – hope you’ve had a blast so far this summer. I know my dad & I have. Lot’s of road trips, discovered new dogie parks and even made some super kewl new friends… and we’ve still got an entire month of summer yet to go. YIIIPPEEEEE!!!
Now… in case you didn’t know – my dad loves, Loves, LOOOOVES removing those ugly buckles, wrinkles and lumps from your carpets. However if you wait too long to have yours re-stretched / re-installed it could lead to other more severe problems.
happy reading & lets have fun in the Sun!
Common Side Effects of Carpet Buckles And Why It’s Imperative That You Have Your Carpets Stretched When You First Notice Them.
A Real World Case Study
So I think we’ve already covered many of the common problems posed by improperly installed carpets that begin to loosen only after a short period of time. However, I don’t believe I’ve spoken to you about the potential for pile distortion, also known as carpet wear, and it’s increase probability if you have the misfortune of loose or buckling carpets in your home.
This is definitely something that you want to be made aware of, because once it takes hold it could become so severe that any corrective measures will render futile.
Let me explain…
How Premature (and sometimes irreversible) Carpet Wear Results From Poorly Installed Carpets
Okay, so the picture above is pretty dated (hay, I did my best), but unfortunately the travesty of carpet installation by way of knee-kicking alone sadly is not – and this my friends is where it all begins.
*first here’s some important background information to set the stage*
You see reader, when carpets depart from the carpet mills they are pretty stiff and sturdy. That’s normal. However over a period of time it’ll naturally soften & become more manageable — again, this is normal.
BUT WAIT… here’s the 2-part rub…
An Assist Tool (knee-kicker)
1. – If not installed using a power-stretcher (as seen here), then once it begins to acclimate to the climate fluctuations of the indoor environment in addition to the stress of everyday foot traffic… it’ll overcompensate – i.e., it’ll buckle, wrinkle, get bumps/lumps..etc.
2. – If not “dimension-ally stabilized”(as we say in the trade) which basically means it hasn’t been power-stretched in as to be drum-tight, then the resulting consequence will be akin to having under-inflated tires on your car = it will wear prematurely, excessively and at an accelerated pace.
As did this recently stretched 2 year old carpet below that was in the home of a couple of empty nesters with no major foot traffic to justify such a worn appearance.
So What Now… ?
Did I tie this all together in a way that’s making sense? Can you see why it’s a good idea to have your carpet buckles eliminated sooner rather than later and that in doing so would be in your best interest? I mean think about it… when carpet starts looking worn you may be faced with several to many thousands in replacement cost. So it’s best to jump on it preemptively yes?
Alrighty then. I hope this was a little informative and I certainly hope you didn’t mind my informal manner of type. I tend to write how I speak.
